#Storytelling Using Storyboarding: 10 Great #Tools | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it
It has been a while since my last blogpost. Last month, I had the great honor of writing four guest posts on the topic of mLearning for ASTD. Furthermore, I have been studying hard to complete my postgraduate studies, which made me step aside from some other projects for a while. Having said that, last week I came…

Storyboard tools or any apps that save you time and help you create the stories you need to or want to tell are welcome. While not all the tools here will necessarily suited to your workflow or needs, at least one or two will. I've always found storyboarding a great way of learning new stories or presenting ideas in a clear, narrative manner -- always appreciated by my audiences. Have fun exploring these. Great storytellers know that by leaving out a lot of unnecessary description, you engage your listener's imagination. "Suggest, don't tell." Give your audience the silence and space to engage with the story. If not, they become passive as you are doing all the imaginative work for them. This article gives some media examples of this in practice.

Fab #Storytelling Secrets From 3 TED Talks

Fab #Storytelling Secrets From 3 TED Talks | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

"When I decided to write an article on brand storytelling inspired by TED talks, I went about it all wrong.

Scouring YouTube for tactics, elements, and components of brand storytelling, I was aiming to find five or ten (or 17) actionable tips that you can use to tell you brand’s story.

I was already boring myself to death and I hadn’t even begun to write.

Stories need to be captivating from the beginning or you'll bore the pants of your audience, whether it's fiction or brand storytelling.

Just Story It - Scoops

Just Story It - Scoops | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

Here are the best articles from across the web that I can find on using stories and storytelling in business.

I've chosen them because they actually make a contribution to our knowledge and wisdom about stories, show us how to apply stories to growing our businesses, or give valuable how-to tips.

I weed out all the junk. And besides, who needs another post in why storytelling is important?? Where's the beef?? We want the meat!

I've written reviews of each article to share what I like best, what you can get from reading the article, or what may be missing in the article.

How To Find A Topic: Click on the Filter tab above, and type in a keyword. All the articles with that keyword will appear.

I may occassionally review an article that I think is problematic as a way to educate us all, although most I will simply pass over.  If you wonder if I've seen an article that is not included here, send me a message and I'll respond.

After doing biz story work for over a decade (and with a PhD in Folklore) I hope you find many great insights and tips here. Many thanks for visiting and enjoy the articles!

Conflict: 10 Types of Narrative Conflict You Can Use in Your #Storytelling

Conflict: 10 Types of Narrative Conflict You Can Use in Your #Storytelling | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it
In content creation, remember the importance of conflict in storytelling. Without conflict, your audience will tune out. Here are ten ways to reel them in.
Ricard Lloria's insight:

Everyone crafting stories says, "You've 'gotta have conflict!" Or a struggle, trouble, challenge to make it a great story.

But what kind of conflict exactly? Well, here's a post that lays out 10 types of conflict you can you in your story crafting. It's great stuff to know!

I also really like that for each of the 10 types, an example is given and a video clip provided. Sweet.

Have fun with this one. Once you read it, maybe you'll see which conflict type you prefer the most, and which ones you can add into your repertoire.
