Goed en overzichtelijk stappenplan om naar de social media marketing te kijken. Met de waardevolle toevoeging (die nogal eens wordt vergeten door bedrijven) dat het bij alle automatisering wel om mensen gaat en niet om logo's.

How to Setup a Wordpress Blog in 5 Minutes

How to Setup a Wordpress Blog in 5 Minutes | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

I started my blog using WordPress and I have found it a platform that makes it easy to own and publish your own content online.

It is the foundation to the success of this blog which currently receives over 300,000 hits per month.

If you’re looking for an easy way to create a web presence and start sharing your ideas online, the best way to do this is to create a blog. Millions of users around the world already express themselves and share their thoughts by means of their personal blogs.

The advantage of having your own WordPress blog that is self-hosted is that you own it.

It is good to have a Facebook “page” or a Tumblr blog but they are owned by someone else and you can have a web presence there but under their “Terms and Conditions” It is basically a rental.

From the list below we guarantee you will find something very useful for your business.

Here are 101 Social Media Tools and Technology tips to help your business.

 SEO & Blogging

1.  The title tag is the most important part of your optimization for your blog post.  Spend time ensuring it’s good.  Words at the beginning of a title have more weight from a Google perspective than words at the end so choose them wisely.

2. Google used to look at meta tag keywords but doesn’t any more so don’t waste your time on them.

3. If you’re in doubt about which software platform to use for blogging go with WordPress.  That’s what the biggest blogs use so why don’t you use it?

4. If you are using WordPress make sure you set up your page names to include keywords.  By default they don’t.  This is important for SEO.

5. Link to other relevant blog posts on your blog using relevant keywords.  Linking from external websites to yours is useful but internal linking is also valuable.  Try to link to at least a couple of blog posts on your site.

6.  Use the google site command to find out all the page titles and descriptions for all the posts on your website (e.g. go to google search and type site:”name of your website”)

7. Read these tips for improving what Google indexes on your site.

8. Use Google Advanced Search to find guest post opportunities.

9.  Make sure you have a sitemap created for your blog but also make sure you have a video sitemap.  Both give Google more details of what you have on your site.  With a video sitemap, even if your videos are on youtube, google will index the videos on your site.

The 5 Types of Social Followers that Every Business Needs [INFOGRAPHIC]

The 5 Types of Social Followers that Every Business Needs [INFOGRAPHIC] | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

When you’re a brand establishing yourself on social platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, in the very early days you’re usually less concerned about who is following you and more about how many...

It’s superficial, of course, but large numbers of followers on Twitter and Likes on your Facebook Page do have provide a level of social proof that makes you more attractive to new followers, and new Likes – when someone sees that you’re already popular, they’re far more likely to make the leap and get on board themselves.

But for businesses looking to maximize the ROI of their social media strategy, how many is always far, far less important than who. Pretty soon you realise that a big number is meaningless unless it’s actually converting into brand awareness, website footfall and sales – so who should you be looking to attract?

Early adopters, social sharers and power-users are all pivotal in helping your brand reach critical max, but they’re not alone. Indeed, lurkers and even haters can become powerful influencers if you take the time to engage and inspire them.

This infographic takes a look at the five types of social follower that every business needs...

Ranking the 100 Most InDemand Employers Using LinkedIn Data [INFOGRAPHIC]

Ranking the 100 Most InDemand Employers Using LinkedIn Data [INFOGRAPHIC] | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

Whether it’s a tech start-up or a prestigious global accounting firm, some employers are more desirable than others. For companies, this affects how easily they can recruit; for employees, it’s tied to your professional reputation.

Using an extensive professional data set, LinkedIn identified which companies are most attractive to potential candidates in this infographic of LinkedIn’s Most InDemand Employers.

What makes these rankings unique is that they’re based on the actual actions of over 175 million professionals. Last year, LinkedIn had over 15 billion interactions between professionals & companies. That data was cross-referenced with thousands of survey responses to pinpoint specific activities that best indicate familiarity and interest in working for a company: connecting with employees, viewing profiles, visiting Company Pages, and following companies. After crunching this data and normalizing for things like company size, the top 100 global list was created. Then LinkedIn profile data was applied to rank the most sought-after employers among professionals in five countries and four job functions.

Does everybody need a social media strategy?

Does everybody need a social media strategy? | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

As the hype of social media begins to die down and companies re-evaluate their efforts with a steely-eyed look at the cost versus benefits, I think it is time to re-visit this important question: Does every company really need a social media marketing plan?

This is a very complex question. So to help answer it, I looked at a few companies with brands that might not be natural fits for a social media presence. Adult diapers. Coal. Hazardous waste clean-up. Playing cards.

Let’s explore this important question by taking a romp through some unusual case studies that stretch the boundaries of social media marketing thinking.

The Secret to a Perfect Facebook Post

The Secret to a Perfect Facebook Post | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

Small businesses that use Facebook to get the word out and promote their companies should check out a new report from Buddy Media, a social ad-management software provider. The report is drawn from the company’s analysis of 200 clients’ Facebook posts over a two-week period, in addition to the comments and “likes” spurred by those posts.

The report contains a number of good takeaways, including its findings on post length. It found that Facebook posts containing 80 or fewer characters had 27 percent higher engagement rates than longer posts. (You’re not the only one who struggles to be brief: Just 19 percent of all posts analyzed were that short.)

The Challenge of Getting Visibility on Facebook [infographic]

The Challenge of Getting Visibility on Facebook [infographic] | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

Many face the challenge of getting visibility on Facebook in the newsfeed, especially for business pages.  And, maybe that’s why I’m hearing more and more people talking about moving over to Google+.

It’s estimated that only about 10% of the people who follow your Facebook page, actually see your content. So you’re left to spend an unreal amount of time posting pictures, videos, polls and links in the hope that your followers will see and engage with your content. Or, you can advertise your content with promoted posts and offers in an attempt to get attention in the newsfeed.

If you’re committed to marketing your business on Facebook (and with over 1 billion users, who isn’t?), the infographic below may help you choose how to engage for the best return on your investment of time.

Start With a Business Model, Not a Business Plan - Steve Blank

Start With a Business Model, Not a Business Plan - Steve Blank | Business Improvement and Social media | Scoop.it

Where did the idea that startups write business plans come from? In the early days of venture capital, investors and entrepreneurs were familiar with the format of business plans from large companies and adopted it for startups. Without much thought it has been used ever since.

A business plan is the execution document that existing companies write when planning product-line extensions where customer, market and product features are known. The plan is an operating document describes the execution strategy for addressing these “knowns.”

A startup is notabout executing a series of knowns. Most startups are facing a series of unknowns – unknown customer segments, unknown customer needs, unknown product feature set, etc. That means that writing a static business plan first adds no value to starting a company, as the plan does not represent the iterative nature of the search for the model.
