An interesting take on the responsibilities and opportunties for academics to publish their work to interested audiences. Although research is important to the public, the public doesn't read the types of journals in which resesarch is made public. As a result, they are left to accept what is disseminated as research based thinking and decision-making. Many times, that is just not the case. Research is reinterpreted and revisioned through the lens of those who publish in mainstream sectors. If researchers were encouraged to deliver study results through publications more accessible to public audiences, there may be fewer misunderstandings on topics of widespread interest.
