AI in education is a public problem

AI in education is a public problem | Creative teaching and learning | Scoop.it

"Over the past year or so, a narrative that AI will inevitably transform education has become widespread. You can find it in the pronouncements of investors, tech industry figures, educational entrepreneurs, and academic thought leaders. If you are looking for arguments in favour of AI in education, you can ..."

Francesca Gonzalez's curator insight, May 26, 6:19 PM
This articles makes great points regarding concerns with AI in education. One point that stood out to me the most was that AI can diminish the cognitive development of individuals if they rely to heavy on it to do their work. I think using AI in education should be to enhance learning, not do students work for them.
Tony Parkin's curator insight, May 27, 11:18 AM
Public problems are collectively debated, accounted for, and managed; they are not the purview of private companies or self-identified caretakers who work on their own timelines with proprietary knowledge. Truly public problems are never outsourced to private interests or charismatic authorities.

AI ethics and legal concerns in classrooms | Tech & Learning | Creative teaching and learning | Scoop.it

"As AI use continues to grow in classrooms, educators need to be aware of the ethics and legal concerns involved ..."

Timoteo Guzman's curator insight, May 20, 5:05 PM
It's clear that AI can offer personalized learning and quick feedback, but there are important ethical and legal concerns to consider. Teachers need proper training and support to use AI effectively and must never rely solely on AI for assessing student performance. Human oversight is crucial to ensure accuracy and context. The fear of AI replacing teachers is unfounded because AI can't replicate the emotional intelligence and connections that teachers provide. Overall, while AI has great promise, educators must navigate its integration carefully to truly benefit students.

It's more than likely that the social-emotional learning strategies she had wouldn't work in the region we live in because Hispanic, African American and Mexican American students were raised differently and exposed to less advantages than those who are White.
