In the general capabilities of the Australian Geography Curriculum is Cultural Understanding, is the following, "Students learn the importance of understanding their own and others’ histories, recognizing the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures..." Throughout the curriculum Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content reappears, for example in year 7 is this unit, "Economic, cultural, spiritual and aesthetic value of water for people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and peoples of the Asia region (ACHGK041)" These stories could be a wonderful resource for teaching geography in Australia.
