Augmented Reality in Education: Five Powerful Tools for Teachers

Augmented Reality in Education: Five Powerful Tools for Teachers | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

Augmented reality has a huge potential for us in education. It helps engage students in hands-on and immersive learning experiences and boosts their self-directed learning and "their social and emotional connections to curricular topics".  A few days ago I shared with you a number of AR resources including Apple's guide: Augmented Reality in Education and a review of two powerful AR science apps. In today's post I am sharing more resources to help you make the best of AR in your classroom.

What if you need to know the details of “that thing you’re looking at,” but don’t know its name? That's where augmented reality must come in.

Last year, Walmart introduced virtual reality (VR) to the world of employee training and development by using the technology to upgrade training at Walmart Academies across the US. It wasn’t clear at the time if the initiative would work, but it was a bold experiment using a technology that is still only emerging. It seems, though, that the program has been a success because only two weeks ago, Walmart announced that it was extending it, and providing Oculus VR headsets to all its stores in the US to bring the same level of training to more than one million

A Scientist Predicts the Future

A Scientist Predicts the Future | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

When making predictions, I have two criteria: the laws of physics must be obeyed and prototypes must exist that demonstrate “proof of principle.” I’ve interviewed more than 300 of the world’s top scientists, and many allowed me into laboratories where they are inventing the future. Their accomplishments and dreams are eye-opening. From my conversations with them, here’s a glimpse of what to expect in the coming decades:
