The academic achievement gap in poverty schools coupled with the pressure of school ranking based upon standardized tests causes many educators to focus mainly on the academic needs of students.  many of our poverty students lack the Emotional Intelligence that provides an avenue for academic success.  We must build an awareness of emotional intelligence and then build this in our students just as we build their cognitive intelligence

How does this fit into your leadership framework? Do your arrows flow in the same direction? Does it matter? I believe self-management is the key to the flow, impact, and goal of change for leadership. For me, this is box #1 ... where's yours?

Emotional Intelligence - EQ

Emotional Intelligence - EQ | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it
As the bestselling coauthor of Emotional Intelligence 2.0, I'm often asked to break down what emotional intelligence is and why it's so important. Here goes... Emotional Intelligence Is the Other Kind of Smart. When emotional intelligence first appeared to the masses in 1995, it served as the missing link in a peculiar [...]

EQ 2.0 seems more like traditional EQ + social intelligence or SQ

MyKLogica's curator insight, March 5, 2014 3:24 AM

¿Y a vosotros? ¿qué os parece?

#Liderazgo #Leadership: emotional intelligence

#Liderazgo #Leadership: emotional intelligence | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

They say people are every company's greatest resource. But not all are created equal. And everyone can be measured. When assessing talent, the qualities that make people stand out the most are cognitive (as in IQ level), technical (as in skill proficiency) and emotional intelligence. While cognitive and technical qualities are typically those required to do a job, it's the emotional intelligence that determines how good someone will be at it. And the higher up someone is in an organization, the more important his or her level of emotional intelligence will be.

MyKLogica's curator insight, December 16, 2013 4:51 AM
