mBot: educational robot for #kids - #maker #arduino #robotics #kikstarter | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

Two years ago, Makeblock team launched the first Kickstarter project for helping makers construct their dreams; Two years later, now we come back to Kickstarter again for O.R.P.K (ONE ROBOT PER KID), releasing the easiest educational robot for helping kids learn robotics with fun.

Robotics integrate all STEM fields and always make each kid crazy. It can help kids get hands-on experience on mechanics, electronics, control system and computer science.

However, all robots on the market seem to be expensive, hard to assemble, trouble to wire and complex to program. Our goal is to create an affordable, easy-to-use and open source robot for per kid: ONE ROBOT PER KID.

Linz Has Been Named UNESCO City of Media Arts - #mediaart

Linz Has Been Named UNESCO City of Media Arts - #mediaart | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

On December 1, 2014 Linz was incorporated as the City of Media Arts in the Creative Cities Network of UNESCO (Credit: City of Linz).

As the birthplace of Ars Electronica, Linz has been a global leader at the interface of art, technology and society for decades now. On December 1, 2014, the Upper Austrian capital’s pioneering achievements were singled out for recognition by UNESCO. Linz has been accepted as a member of the prestigious Creative Cities Network and is now officially entitled to use the epithet UNESCO City of Media Arts. Obviously, this is a major boost for Linz’s international profile. Today, we chatted with one of the driving forces behind the effort to bring this about: Christopher Lindinger, co-director of the Ars Electronica Futurelab and administrator of the elaborate application process. ...

Prosthetic Knowledge Picks: Code and Economics - on Rhizome

Prosthetic Knowledge Picks: Code and Economics - on Rhizome | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

The latest in an ongoing series of themed collections of creative projects assembled by Prosthetic Knowledge. This edition takes a look at creative projects and cultural implications that emerge from the meeting of computing culture and economics.

It's interesting that the etymology of the word "economics" goes back to the Greek oikonomikos, meaning "practiced in the management of a household or family," "frugal" or "thrifty," especially considering the term's modern-day association with big capitalism. On a small or large scale, economics has always been concerned with the distribution of wealth and the management of resources, and its principles can therefore be applied in a range of other fields. For example: In the mid-70's, the subject entered into dialogue with the biology (such as Gary Becker's paper "Altruism, Egoism and Genetic Fitness: Economics and Sociobiology" and "Economics from a Biological Viewpoint" by Jack Hirshleifer), where resources such as fitness, energy, disease, or environment were studied in an economic framework. ...

transmediale 2015: Why we need spaces for art and tech beyond corporate influence - festival returns by Elvia Wilk

transmediale 2015: Why we need spaces for art and tech beyond corporate influence - festival returns by Elvia Wilk | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

True to its title, "Capture All," the program of this year's transmediale festival in Berlin was ambitiously panoramic, with such a marathon, round-the-clock schedule that by the last day a number of attendees had come down with the same cold. Separated into the thematic tracks of Work, Play, and Life, the events revolved around the quantification of everyday activities, mass data acquisition, algorithmic sorting of information about people and the planet, and the systems of power and control implicit in all of those processes—topics in which most of the festival's target audience is well-versed.

The majority of that audience is made up of academics, artists, cultural workers, technologists, and students. This year for the first time, tickets sold out completely; on opening night the 1,035-seater auditorium was over capacity, and throughout the five-day festival, waiting lines stretched around corners.

Open Models - Les business models de l’économie ouverte - #OpenCulture #OpenEconomy

Open Models - Les business models de l’économie ouverte - #OpenCulture #OpenEconomy | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

Very geeky. For the most part you would not be caught wearing one of those but the idea that these glasses exist may trigger an idea for an application in a business setting, where wearing something dorky isn't an issue when you are paid for it ;-)
