Augmented Reality in Education: Five Powerful Tools for Teachers

Augmented Reality in Education: Five Powerful Tools for Teachers | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

Augmented reality has a huge potential for us in education. It helps engage students in hands-on and immersive learning experiences and boosts their self-directed learning and "their social and emotional connections to curricular topics".  A few days ago I shared with you a number of AR resources including Apple's guide: Augmented Reality in Education and a review of two powerful AR science apps. In today's post I am sharing more resources to help you make the best of AR in your classroom.

Three Good Resources for Teaching Fact vs. Opinion | Free Technology for Teachers

Three Good Resources for Teaching Fact vs. Opinion | Free Technology for Teachers | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

This afternoon I was talking with a few of my students about TikTok and its new relationship with Oracle. The course of that conversation brought up a lot of "I've heard X" and "I've read X" statements from my students regarding news about TikTok. As you might imagine would happen with teenagers talking about their favorite app, the conversation got animated. I spent a lot of time helping discern fact from rumors and opinions. All that to say, this afternoon reminded me to review facts vs. opinions with students. I used this Common Craft video, but there are some other good resources you might want explore. Those are outlined below.

90 VR Education Apps for Vive, Rift and WMR – Immersive Learning News

90 VR Education Apps for Vive, Rift and WMR – Immersive Learning News | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it
When it comes to locating educational content for a PC-powered VR headset like a Vive, Rift or WMR, it can be a little tricky for three main reasons:
1. There are multiple app stores to find content and some of the content can only be found in certain app stores.

2. Not all the stores have an easy to find Education section.

3. Some content which would be great in the classroom isn’t actually tagged as educational.

30 Academic Resources on Learning - InformED

30 Academic Resources on Learning - InformED | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it
Many of us read blogs about learning and discuss the learning process with our colleagues, but few of us actually bother keeping up with the latest science. Maybe it’s because, if we do manage to identify a source or two, we are immediately turned off by all the dense scientific jargon. Or maybe it’s not... Read More

Higher Education Digital Capability Framework | HolonIQ

Higher Education Digital Capability Framework | HolonIQ | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it
The Higher Education Digital Capability framework identifies four core dimensions along the learner lifecycle: Demand & Discovery (DD), Learning Design (LD), Learner Experience (LX) and Work & Lifelong Learning (WL). Within these are sixteen capability groups or ‘domains’, with more than 70 capability blocks adding a further level of detail. Overall, the framework is designed to allow flexibility and interpretation in context; some institutions will find almost every capability block relevant to their organisational structure, activities and aspirations, whilst others will focus on a more specific set of capabilities applicable to their individual context.

How can Technology Be Used to Decrease the Dropout Rate?

How can Technology Be Used to Decrease the Dropout Rate? | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it
In response to this crisis, The Tech Edvocate decided to put forth the idea that the explosion of edtech can be leveraged to decrease the drop rate in America, provided that educators have the right tools. In this article, we decided to share with our readers a list of edtech tools that we believe can be used to prevent students from dropping out. However, before we get into that, let’s talk about why we should be concerned about the dropout rate.

Tony Karrer on Teaching Online Courses – 60 Great Resources

Tony Karrer on Teaching Online Courses – 60 Great Resources | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

Tony Karrer:

As always I do this by looking through eLearning Learning and related sites like Communities and Networks Connection.   I looked at Virtual ClassroomDistance LearningILTTeaching Distance Learning.  I also did some quick searches for various kinds of things and added them into eLearning Learning (via delicious).  So together, I’ve collected a bunch of resources pretty quickly.  That said, there’s so much already out there on this – I’m at this point not quite sure what the real question was/is.  Certainly a lot of this is already findable.  I hope this is useful.  But I think the problem at this point might be something else.  Still here are 60 great resources.
