The Future of Work and the Transformation from Within

Which companies are ensuring their place in the future?

Definitely not those sticking to conventional models in work organisation or in structuring and running their businesses. As evolution teaches, the ability to adapt to environmental changes, such as the ones we experience in the corporate world, determines who has a better chance of thriving.

So, is your company’s DNA set to evolve?

In 2013/14, I only used novels in English class and even then only to provide time away from a screen.  Every other class and activity used digital resources and engaged technology to find, sort, contextualize, and share information.   This is a very interesting infographic.

Dyana Mason's curator insight, June 23, 2014 11:06 PM

Digital devices are re-shaping the classroom. I've seen some new tools in action.  As educators, we should learn how students are using these new tools and adjust our teaching appropriately.

Dian J Harrison, MSW, MPA's curator insight, July 8, 2014 8:09 PM

This definitely speaks to the support that older students will need to be successful in online programs!  For some of these students, the technology learning curve will be steep but doable....... especially if they are used to reading a book in print!

My Transformation as a Teacher

My Transformation as a Teacher | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it
Pernille Ripp, 7th grade teacher in WI, shares her transformation and pathways to personalized learning environments and passionate learners.

Via Kathleen McClaskey
Kathleen McClaskey's curator insight, January 25, 2016 12:00 PM

Pernille offers insight on why she embraces personalized learning after 6 years.  She points out that the journey she has taken to transform herself is really about the learners that she teaches. Here is an excerpt that says it all.

"Six years ago, I set out on a journey that would challenge my belief that education was an institution that could not be changed, but instead had to be blindly followed no matter the collateral damage in its wake. I now know that the day I started asking my learners what changes they needed to become more engaged learners, was the day that I made a difference in the way education can be used. Yet this change is fundamentally not about me. It is about the learners I teach and it is for them that we must embrace a more meaningful way of educating. Call it personalizing learning or some other title, but in the end, we must make the very education that we are stewards of become about the kids that we teach again."

How to Prioritize Your Innovation Budget

How to Prioritize Your Innovation Budget | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

Leaders and organizations are under more stress than ever to do two things simultaneously: deliver on today’s pressing commitments by troubleshooting and refining processes; and find and invest in innovation opportunities that will create tomorrow’s success.

How your organization responds to this stress in allocating scarce resources is a crucial but often unaddressed issue. The natural bias is to respond immediately to what is in front of you. The problem is, this instinct crowds out longer term, innovative thinking.

Via Kenneth Mikkelsen, Amy Ragsdale
Kenneth Mikkelsen's curator insight, September 26, 2014 7:11 AM

Here, on average, is what leaders estimate they were currently spending their time on:

  • 85% on day-to-day operations
  • 5% on incremental improvements that produced faster, cheaper, better sameness
  • 5% on small sustaining innovations
  • 5% on big, disruptive innovations

Perspective matters, and is the key to leadership effectiveness. To make sense of what’s happening in the world and anticipate what the future has in store, an intelligent, informed perspective is now more important than ever.

'A growing percentage of our colleges and universities are in real financial trouble' | The Hechinger Report | E-Learning-Inclusivo (Mashup) | Scoop.it

"

Facing skeptical customers, declining enrollment, an antiquated financial model that is hemorrhaging money, and new kinds of low-cost competition, some U.S. universities and colleges may be going the way of the music and journalism industries.

Their predicament has become so bad that financial analysts, regulators and bond-rating agencies are beginning to warn that many colleges and universities could close.

'A growing percentage of our colleges and universities are in real financial trouble,' the financial consulting firm Bain & Company concluded in a report—one-third of them, to be exact, according to Bain, which found that these institutions’ operating costs are rising faster than revenues and investment returns can cover them."
