Are you an Invisible Leader?

In my humble opinion I believe Tao Te Ching refers to the invisible leader clearly...

Tao Te Ching stated:  "With the greatest leader above them, people barely know one exists. Next comes one whom they love and praise. Next comes one whom they fear. Next comes one whom they despise and defy.

When a leader trusts no one, no one trusts him.

The great leader speaks little. He never speaks carelessly. He works without self-interest and leaves no trace. A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when all is finished and his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves."

I know that it feels good to feel needed by your team.  I know that it feels super to be told that the team achieved the excellent results because of your leadership.  Personally, it feels good; however, is that the goal of a leader?   It is hard to be invisible (I don't mean not when you need to be available to your team)

It takes a humble and confident leader to always give the credit away, and to empower and involve a team to the level that the team does believe that they took the ball and ran with it.
