The fediverse isn’t a single, gigantic social media platform like Facebook or Twitter. It’s an expanding ecosystem of interconnected social media sites and services that let people interact with each other no matter which one of these sites and services they have an account with. That means that people can tailor and better control their experience of social media, and be less reliant on a monoculture sown by a handful of tech giants.

Tras la compra de Twitter por Elon Musk, sus preocupantes declaraciones y su política de despidos, da la impresión de que Twitter se puede convertir en un territorio muy hostil. Por eso algunos estamos haciendo las maletas para una posible desbandada. Mastodon parece un lugar acogedor que ofrece muchas posibilidades y ventajas https://quickfix.es/2022/11/why-mastodon-is-better/. Pero algunos lo están percibiendo como la invasión de su propia casa https://www.hughrundle.net/home-invasion/ (es normal) pero es lo que tiene la emigración, el que se va no suele querer irse y el que recibe a veces se siente amenazado. Mi descubrimiento del fediverso https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fediverso me está sorprendiendo gratamente, la interoperatividad, la posibilidad de establecer filtros a medida para usuarios e interacciones así como para la creación de sitios propios es infinita.
