The latest United Nations Global Compact-Accenture CEO Study charts a mixed picture of progress and what’s next for business following The UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow (COP26).
Half the CEOs surveyed say they're grappling with supply-chain due to extreme weather but a mere 7% of CEOs globally say they have advanced early-warning systems or scenario planning in place.
Going into COP26, only 18% of CEOs said governments have given them the clarity needed to operate their businesses in line with a 1.5°C warming trajectory. They laid out what's needed to meet the 1.5°C target.

Ahead of the World Economic Forum annual meeting taking place on 17-20 January, businesses say they are ready to work with the government to help deliver the SDGs in the UK as well as internationally, but that the government must create a framework to help businesses play their part.

The report reveals information from interviews conducted with 70 companies across different regions, sectors, and business models. Despite the vast differences between these companies and how they conduct business, several common themes emerged, highlighting how they have embedded sustainable practices throughout their supply chains. Some of the major themes include shared commitment, collaboration, and the use of technology as a “transparency enabler.”

This is the main conclusion of the 2017 Global Opportunity Report, released by DNV GL, Sustainia and the United Nations Global Compact. The report also demonstrates the commitment of the global business community towards taking action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 agenda.
